The Nerve 'To Do'

Today I saw the Nerve Doctor at St. Luke's Rehabilitation, for a Nerve Study - I was referred by The Orthopoedic Surgeon I see.  The test results will go back to the Surgeon, and then I'll see him to find out what I do next.

In the meantime, here's what we found out today: I have no nerve damage at all in any of the nerves or nerve bundles involved in my injury, from my discs in my neck, to my fingers; nor do I have a nerve disease overall.

I do have inflammation in several tendons (muscles) that were found at the injury site (shoulder) and around my neck. The Doctor told me that often the muscles 'lock' up and just the testing of that muscle and several days of 'discomfort' will cause it to 'break' it's 'lock' and gradually, with Physical Therapy, to get better. (For two years my treatments were for a bone, rather than a soft tissue injury and that kept the area from healing. So, for practical reasons, I'm really starting at the beginning treating this soft tissue injury.)

What was really a positive experience for me was seeing other patients with involuntary squinting (which I now have), slurred speech, difficulty writing and walking, shoulder pain,  etc. Plus the Doctor was so non-plussed about these same things - he must see these nerve symptoms a lot. So overall, I think the experience was a good one, and the findings were also good. The Nerve Doctor was also very chatty and very funny which made the experience even greater! More later.

The Bridal Shower

Last night we had a really fun Bridal Shower here for Theresa, Frank's Fiance, with mostly local guests. It was so much fun- especially the games. We played pin the facial hair on the groom, make a bridal gown out of toilet paper in 5 minutes, and tell two truthful memories about the bride and one lie. Lauren, who is breaking into the Wedding Event planning arena, did a fabulous job with the decorations and ambiance. Liz, the Maid of Honor, who hosted the event, really went all out with decorations, food (great punch!) and fun. Here's a few pictures, but Liz has more on her Facebook, if you do Facebook.

A mustache on his right and a side burn on his left.

Lots of gifts -seemed like everyone actually got gifts!

Of course, Bob and Frank came towards the end to help 'clean up' ...the food! How do they always know when parties are winding down?

Well, What Do I Know?

The Nerve!

I went to see a shoulder specialist today - apparently he is a bone specialist and he couldn't help me as my issues are nerve related and I have a soft tissue injury! He did another shot and took three X-rays, and really looked and did an exam.  So, he referred me to a shoulder 'soft tissue' doctor for a nerve study on July 15th. Is this dragging out or what?

WEDDING

In actually good news, the wedding/reception plans are going well. So far, for those of you who like to dress up, it is an evening, somewhat formal event. There will be a Low Mass (shorter, about an hour) and the Mothers, Bridesmaids and others will be wearing floor length dresses mostly made of chiffon, with a lot of 'Bling' (rhinestones - jewelry, on shoes, bouquets, etc). Dinner, dancing, drinking - my kind of party!

So you can go all out, or dress a hundred ways. It's up to you!
As I said earlier, the young-ins can come to the wedding ceremony  then they'll have a Disney movie and pizza and a real good sitter here, while we adults go to the wedding reception.
We still have two places at Martha's next door so let us know.
