Another Update

My thyroid is acting up and testing weird so the shoulder treatments  have been put on hold for awhile.  Ugh. I'm still having the massage therapy once a week which helps, but my symptoms remain the same!

Liz is working hard, she's doing a lot of volunteer work, and fixing up her apartment downstairs. Frank and Theresa are doing well, they're both working and obviously enjoying married life.

Bob is planning his retirement (finally)! At the end of this year. Otherwise, he's overseeing some remodeling around here. I'll take pics now that some projects are almost done!

A Poem for Liz

Liz has been promoted to a full time, permanent position at the PD where she works in the Records Department. We are so proud of her, she's had a lot of procedures and codes to learn, and several tests to take. She now has benefits like vacation time and insurance, and other than the one year probation she has, she really loves her job. Congratulations! New car, new job, - wow!

Aside from that happy news, I found a Shel Silverstein poem ( her favorite poet) that perfectly describes one aspect of her childhood. Here it is:

The band-aids on the left are empty wrappers - no band-aids in the boxes either.

Band-Aids

I have a Band-Aid on my finger,
One on my knee, and one on my nose,
One on my heel, and two on my shoulder,
Three on my elbow, and nine on my toes.
Two on my wrist, and one on my ankle,
One on my chin, and one on my thighs
Four on my belly, and five on my bottom,
One on my forehead, and one on my eye.
One on my neck, and in case I might need 'em
I have a box full of thirty-five more.
But oh! I do think it's sort of a pity
I don't have a cut or a sore!

---

For years, we would stock up on band-aids, three and four boxes at one time, only to see them completely gone -way too fast, and wrappers left in their stead,  when we really needed them. The band-aid bandit has has slowed down,  but not really stopped!

There it goes!

The snow is melting almost as fast as it dumps on us, which is ok here! Otherwise we have ice on ice. Now the temperature is warming up - 45 is warm right?

Here's Liz stuck on the driveway in a snow storm - yesterday!

Bob's tractor got a workout last night!
This probably looks familiar to Mom!
This too! From yesterday.

Today, just before the big melting 'heatwave'!

Our cozy fireplace saw some action!

I have been sewing a little this week. I almost have the 'Hope' block done. And I found a good small teapot design for Mom's Anniversaries of the Heart block, but I'll change the colors!

I keep trying to rotate this, but it keeps popping back, so upside down it is!

Lizzie's New Do!

As Liz continues to play with her new haircut, I'll try to get pictures for the blog to keep you updated. I really miss her curls, but her new "do' has inspired her to also try new looks all around, and she's so cute!

Lizzie!

I finally have some time to write about new news about Liz! She had her hair cut into a cute short cut,  works for the same police department part time that her Dad does in the Records department where she is spoiled by the ladies there and the cops, and she is still my consolation at home!

Here's  a picture of her new haircut - she's at work.

Mean and Terrible Parents!

That's what we are - and did we mention we like to humiliate and mortify our children?

We'll start with Liz, who is an 'Elf' named Bouncy for Holidays & Heroes, a local police/kid event she volunteered for today.

We think her outfit is becoming, don't you? She said, when she tried it on for us last night, that she finally found herself!

Oh, by the way, Liz is now working 3 days a week at the same police department her father's at - she loves it!

Kinda' scary, huh?

The "Mother" of All Storms

This last week we've had some really hard and heavy winds, and more than once we thought we would lose our power, but we didn't - which is a miracle as we have lost power in lighter wind storms.

However, one of our trees on the barn side of the property (pictures are from Martha's side of the fence), was blown over and it had to be chopped up, cleaned up, and the fence repaired. Bob and Liz took care of it!

*Friends and Family: Send me pictures of rain, wind, lightening, and/or storms so we can all see what the weather is like in your neck of the woods.*

What Liz is Up To

Liz has been working as a civilian volunteer at the same Police Department her Dad works at. She works in the records division (where she also has helped in fingerprinting) and she is currently at the front desk where she answers phones, helps walk-ins and does office related duties. She's also in the process of being accepted as a civilian volunteer at another local Police Department. She loves it. She's getting her name known in Law Enforcement circles in the County and will be applying for a full time paid position as a Records and Evidence Technician.

Liz is also a volunteer for the Idaho Auxiliary of the Law Enforcement support group Wives Behind the Badge and is the newly appointed Idaho Coordinator for Blue Line Kids (a sub organization of Wives Behind the Badge). So, she's very busy - as she should be and loves it.

She's had to take a break from her piano lessons and testing. She's incurred an injury to the tendons in her fifth fingers on both hands -  the doctor said the "tendons are off their axis" because of her constant training and playing over the years, so this causes her pain when she plays the piano too much.  We're still looking into this.

More Frank and Theresa News...

We had Theresa's family over for dessert Saturday night and Theresa's Mom, Marianne, gave us very organized plans for Frank and Theresa's wedding, which they are hoping to have in July/August. We are so excited! Great night - great pies - and a great way to start wedding planning!
Oh, and Liz is the Maid of Honor!

Liz and Her Wild Hair

We've had a couple of Lizzie's out of town friends here for the past week for a wedding - lots of weddings this summer! It's been nice to have all the noise and girl mess!

Frank's having a quiet Birthday today and enjoying a day off!

Finalmente!

Getting ready to 'let in' down the road from our place.

For our Wedding Anniversary we finally- finally went boating with Elmer & Liz. It was a very hot day, and we went when the crowds (and speed boats) were off the water. It was relaxing, challenged my back a lot -  but what fun we had! Next is Bayside, near Farragut State Park. Liz took these pictures.

Our new depth finder/fish finder/treasure finder
